DIY Summer Crafts: Finding Your Creative Side
Are you sitting at home this summer looking for ways to create your own fun? I got you covered, have a craft day!
Today we will be exploring DIY summer crafts that are simple and affordable.
Whether you are with others or by yourself, crafting can be therapeutic when you embrace your creativity, and form art that is special to you.
Having a day for yourself, where you make time for your creative endeavours, is a great form of self care.
Whether you are outside by the pool, or even at the beach, find a place where you can be inspired.
Paint your landscape, collect shells for a project, try and search for supplies in nature that can add to your piece.
Now let’s explore some simple and budget-friendly crafts that are great for both teens and adults.
1. Hat Decorating/Bedazzling
Grab any hat- whether it’s a baseball hat, a straw hat, or a cowboy hat- and head to your local craft store to purchase beads, feathers, sequins, charms, or paint.
Style to your liking!
As a big country girl, Iv’e attended many country concerts and decorated my hats by hot gluing sequins on them for extra sparkle!
2. Crate Painting
Crates are great for storage and organization so why not make it pretty!
Find your favorite paint colors and stencil designs, and get creating!
Whether you use a small crate for your socks or bikinis, or a large one for blankets, paint your crate in a way that reflects your personality!
3. Shoe Embellishments
When it comes to your outfit, styling shoes in a way that is unique to you stands out! Be creative with colorful laces or ribbon.
My cowboy boots were pretty basic looking, but adding some sparkly ribbon on the sides gave them a nice touch.
Sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference!
4. Shell Painting
Before you head down to the beach, grab a bucket to collect shells. Explore and collect some that are different shapes, textures, and colors.
Then, grab your favorite paints and start creating!
Something I am looking forward to trying this summer is painting at the beach.
If you want to get even more creative, you could make a clay shell photo frame, shell necklaces, or even shell candles.
5. Digital Camera Scrapbook/Photo Collage
Make this summer the most memorable by purchasing a digital camera and capturing every moment.
I recently bought a Canon digital camera and it works great.
I love editing all of my photos. They are great quality and the camera is so fun to use.
For anyone who loves photography like me, print out all your images and create a photobook or collage.
Include some handwritten notes explaining your pictures, and why they are special to you.
To make each page stand out, add extra embellishments such as stickers, drawings, and different fonts.
6. Friendship Bracelets
No matter what age you are, you are never too old to make friendship bracelets!
With some string and cute charms or beads, bracelets make great party favors!
7. Tote Bag Embroidery/Painting
Head to your local craft store and pick out a plain tote.
With stickers, fun lettes, and paint, your tote will be fully decked out!
Totes are cute and convenient for taking to class, the beach, shopping, or to a cute cafe.
8. Pottery Painting
Find your local pottery studio and schedule a time to paint pottery.
From plates, to mugs, to jewelry dishes, and figures, there is plenty to choose from.
Then, choose your paint colors.
Painting is one of my favorite hobbies because I always feel peaceful when doing so. With some soothing music, I could paint for hours.
9. Homeade Cards
With all of the summer holidays and birthdays, now is the perfect opportunity to craft cute and personalized cards.
Whether you need a card for a friend, family member, or significant other, personalized cards mean a lot.
Whether you include stickers, a drawing, or a fancy font, it certainly enhances your special message!
10. Custom Bookmarks
Bookmarks are one of my favorite crafts because they are so simple.
With just paper, markers, and ribbon, you can make a bookmark within 10-15 minutes.
I enjoy using fun stencils to color my bookmark. Adding some glitter glue and a pink ribbon is enough to satisfy me!
Thank you guys for following along on my favorite summer DIY crafts!
Whether you consider yourself to be a crafter or not, these ideas are for everyone! All you need is some creativity and a few supplies!
I hope this summer you push yourself out of your comfort zone in exploring new ways to be creative and find activites that you enjoy!
