How to Practice Gratitude and Remain Present
Hi everyone! Today we will discuss how to be grateful and positive in the present moment!
Time right now is all we have. There’s no going back, and we cannot fast forward to the future.
So why do we fixate on the past and future when that is beyond our control?
The only thing that matters is the moment we’re in; everything else is yet to be seen.
So how can we focus on finding joy, peace, and harmony in the present?
1. Every day is a Blessing
Every one of us has a different life story and experience.
Sometimes when we see others whether on social media or in real life- as more affluent, popular, or well-put-together, we start to crave what we feel is lacking in our lives.
Comparison robs us of our self-love and worth, leaving us perpetually unfulfilled with who we are, what we have, and how we perceive our lives!
Every day is a blessing. Waking up in the morning is something to be grateful for. The ability to move our bodies and form meaningful connections with others is a blessing.
When we are struggling with our self-identity, a good reminder is to think of those who have nothing- those who don’t have access to food, water, or a place to live.
What we see as necessites might be all that someone else needs.
2. Less is More
Instead of dwelling on what our life isn’t, focus on what it is!
We don’t need an excess amount of friends, money, attention, or popularity to feel worthy of love and acceptance.
What matters at the end of the day is accepting and loving yourself, while also nurturing the relationships that mean the most!
I have learned that quality is better than quantity.
Having relationships where you can fully be yourself, and the connection flows naturally, is what has provided fulfillment and value in my life.
Living a minimalist lifestyle and having friendships and relationships that are simple…makes time feel precious.
3. Observe Your Thoughts and Behaviors
In a world of technology where distractions are constant, we might lose focus and clarity regarding our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
From social media to the constant busyness of our daily routine, we forget to sit down and reflect.
With so many external factors consuming our time and attention, we can easily lose track of looking inward.
Whether it’s journaling, praying, meditating, or all of those combined, find a practice that allows you to deeply connect with yourself.
When we firmly know and understand ourselves, we can understand others and the world around us!
4. Give Yourself the Same Love You Give Others
Loving ourselves is a feeling we cultivate, just as how we can feel so strongly for others romantically, and emotionally.
The feelings are developed when we get to know others and consistently build on those connections. The same principle applies to our self-love journey.
When we truly get to know ourselves-our interests, passions, beliefs, values, opinions, and most importantly how we feel about who we are, we can grow in love. We cannot love others more than we love ourself.
Think about how you treat yourself and how you treat others. Our way of treating others is a reflection of how we feel about ourselves.
So what kind of person do you want to be? How do you want to set an example for others and show up for those in your life?
Be mindful and reflect. Kindness and compassion never go unnoticed. So shine your light from within! For more inspiration, check out my Pinterest https://pin.it/DtvBdF35V
