How to Tailgate any Event Successfully

Hello everyone! Welcome back, I hope you all have had a wonderful Fourth! Today we will discuss how to throw the best tailgate party!

Whether you are tailgating a concert, sports event, festival, outdoor movie, or any other event, tailgating can be a blast if you are prepared!

Summertime is perfect for tailgating, especially when you are with those you love most.

Even if you don’t have a specific event to attend, create your own fun!

With some pillows and blankets, snacks, a good music playlist, and some decor, create your own movie night or firework show.

Now… let’s dive into the specifics of everything you need to tailgate!

1. Snacks and Drinks

My favorite part of tailgating planning is creating a decorative platter of snacks. Here are some good options for any event.

  1. Charcuterie board
  2. Mini sliders
  3. Chip mix
  4. Pasta salad
  5. Fruit kabob
  6. Cracker sandwiches
  7. Candy or fruit salad
  8. Pigs in a blanket
  9. Mousse cups
  10. Dip board
  11. Donut cake
  12. Chocolate covered pretzels
  13. Jello cups
  14. Nachos
  15. Popcorn

Take these ideas and get creative. I cannot tailgate without a charcuterie board… cheese, crackers, meats, grapes, chips, and dessert, I am all set!

2. Cooler or Freezer Bag

This is a must for keeping your drinks cool and refreshing. I also keep my meats, cheese, and pastries in the bag as well.

Once the tailgating starts, I will then make my charcuterie board.

There is nothing worse than lukewarm drinks on a hot day. So keep it cool!

3. Folding Chairs and Table

A foldable table and chairs is another necessity. I love how comfortable and convenient they are.

Blankets are a nice additional touch in case you get cold or just want to cozy up.

Folding chairs are my favorite because they come with a drink holder and some even have a canopy for shade.

Both are perfect for on-the-go use as they fold easily for transport.

4. Disposable Plates, Cups, Utensils, and Trash Bags

Using disposable items for food is really beneficial, especially when you’re on the go and have somewhere to be.

Personally, I love being festive and buying plates and utensils that match the theme of the event.

5. Speaker

A tailgate definitely requires some good tunes! Create the playlist in advance so you are not searching for songs you like.

I attend many country concerts in the summer, and so having music for everyone to enjoy really makes a difference!

6. Cornhole/Games

Cornhole and card games can be great to play before an event as it is entertaining and gives you something to do before an event.

If you have a big group of friends, split into teams and toss some bean bags!

7. A “just in case” bag

Preparation is half the battle, it is better to be safe than sorry by packing extra. Here are some items I would definitely keep in your car.

  • Portable charger
  • Extra snacks + water
  • Sweatpants and a hoodie
  • More blankets
  • First Aid Kit
  • Medicine
  • Wipes/extra napkins
